Eagle Heights Elementary
November 1, 2020
Dear EHES Families,
I hope this newsletter finds your family healthy and well! The first quarter has flown by, with many memorable events. I want to say thank you for all of the support and grace you have shown us. Every day brings new challenges that we are facing together, and we are doing it!
Here are a few reminders of ways that you can help us.
1. Please remember to send items in your child's lunch that are easy to open and do not need to be heated.
2. If you are making a transportation change, please do so by 3 pm.
3. Please be sure to send a clean face mask with your child every day.
As the season changes, the weather is beginning to get cooler. Please make sure that your child has a coat or jacket and appropriate shoes. We are going to take students outside for recess as much as possible so they can have a mask break.
We are excited to continue partnering with you to make Eagle an AMAZING place for students and staff! If you have a concerns, please reach out to us.
Kindly,
Mrs. Slack

Hello from the EHE Art Room!
Artsonia is in full swing! I’ve been working with grades 2 - 6 to learn how to upload their completed artwork to their online portfolio this past month. Remember your students' work can be kept completely private if you so choose. You can also choose to share it with family that may not live with you, near or far! There is an online Artsonia gift shop that you may choose to purchase items with your students' work printed on them. The holidays are coming and your student’s work printed on cards, ornaments, etc. would make great gifts! Kindergarten and first grade work is either uploaded by me or a high school art assistant.

Student work is not normally sent home right away for several reasons, one being Artsonia photos must be taken and uploaded. Secondly, we have multiple opportunities throughout the year to display art at school, the Board of Education office, the EHE lunchroom, the public library, and other places in our community. Lastly, we have an art show planned for the spring and I will hang on to work that I may want to consider for display there as well. You will get back what I have kept by years end. Thanks for your understanding!
I do have a teacher wish list on Amazon if you would like to help us out with some supplies that I would love to offer your students that I will otherwise not have the funds to purchase in great amounts. I would be ever so grateful. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/TAO5QQQYZRM2?ref_=wl_share Thank you to those of you who have already bought items from the list!
My first quarter Warrior Award goes to…. Emily Arnold in Mrs. Steelman’s class. Emily always greets me with a “hello Miss Aeschliman” or a “good morning”. She follows the schools expectations and is pleasant to be around. She works hard every day and has a positive attitude. Emily makes it fun to come to work at Eagle Heights! Congratulations, Emily! Keep it up!

Eagle Heights Music Notes
We had a great time playing Ukulele, kindergarten through 6th Grade, the last two weeks. I have seen a remarkable improvement in their playing over the long term since we first started the instrument at Eagle two years ago. We are starting Mallet Madness with mixed drums and xylophones this week. For the next few weeks, in honor of the election, grades 3-6 will be doing a comparative study of important versions of the Star Spangled Banner. We will listen to Jose Feliciano (1968), Marvin Gaye (1983), Jimi Hendrix (1968, Woodstock) and Whitney Houston (1991) and compare and contrast the artistic and musical differences between their very different interpretations.
