SPRING Forward!
Hello Raider Nation --
I hope everyone was able to recapture the hour lost as we spring forward for daylight savings time. Enjoy the added daylight!
As I mentioned last week, there will not be a staff meeting tomorrow as the afternoon is being reserved for the March for Our Schools rally in Annapolis. The bus will leave from Atholton at 3:15pm. Please see Mabrooka for more details.
Please join me in congratulating both Cathy Kriner and Mabrooka Chaudhry on their recent appointment as Instructional Team Leader (ITL) for English and Social Studies for next school year.
Tuesday is a PIP day. We decided to devote the entire time to the Active Assailant Training. We will have the transgender presentation at a later date.
This week is Pi Day (3/14)! The social committee is planning a “Pie Event.” For members of the social committee, there will be pizza “pies,” salads, and drinks. Members are asked to bring a dessert to share. I know the math department is bringing awareness to suicide prevention and the services of our neighbor, Grassroots on this day.
I would like to conduct a Raider Time audit this Wednesday. That is to say, we will be taking attendance during Raider Time. Each teacher will print out their class list which will be collected during Raider Time. We will make announcements beginning tomorrow informing students that attendance will be taken and reviewed. To clarify, teachers SHOULD NOT allow students to leave if they are still listed on their roster for Raider Time (regardless if they produce a pass!). Your class list trumps the pass on their phone.
Congratulations to Eric Posner for the outstanding performance this past Friday. The audience was blown away with the Wind Ensemble rendition of Beethoven's Egmont Overture. Also, I got to witness the Robotics Team in action this weekend in Bethesda. They got to the finals! Thanks to Charlie Lidard for working with this group. Please be sure to congratulate members of our band and robotics team. Some pics are below.
Lastly, Strutting with the Staff is back and Atholton will be on stage! Bright Minds Foundation is hosting another wonderful fundraising event to raise money that goes directly back into the schools. Our very own Raider Nation staff will begin rehearsals this week and will be bringing you back to the 80s with their fancy footwork and out of this world costumes. Although I am not a dancer, I will do my best to represent Atholton well. It should definitely be worth the price of admission. We are still looking for volunteers! Come on out!!
See you tomorrow!
Robert
