There is homework help today in the library. Students who want to attend, sign-up using your “For GVMS Students” folder. Teachers, if you want a student to attend, please sign him/ her up using your Golden Folder and make proper communication. Homework help runs from 4:30-5:30. Practice passes are available. Congratulations to Mrs. Sullivan’s Crew for winning Country vs Country Club. Ms. Smith’s class was a close second. As a school, we had 41% of the students participate. The Student Ambassador meeting for today has been rescheduled for Tuesday during Crew. Tomorrow the dress up day is Red and Black. Bring your Chromebooks to PE today. 7th-grade volleyball took on a tough Glenwood Springs team and was not able to come up with the win. A couple highlights for our girls included Ellie Gardner with a great dig out of the net to keep one really going. Kara Mueller put the pressure on the other team with a number deep serves. The girls would appreciate your cheers and support next week against Rifle. Good luck to the football team. They travel to Basalt Middle School today. Boys make sure to check with your teachers to see what work you will be missing today in class. There is an NJHS officers meeting today during lunch. No cross country practice tomorrow. Enjoy the homecoming festivities! The 8th grade Girl's Volleyball team traveled to Glenwood yesterday. The B steam girls fought hard in the first match, but fell. They picked up the pace in the last 2 matches and ended up beating Glenwood. The A team girls pulled off a 25-22 win in the first match, they were on fire in the 2nd and 3rd matches and took Glenwood down.
Grand Valley High School HOMECOMING!!!
As part of the 2017 Homecoming Week activities, tonight GVHS will host the 2017 Chili Cook-Off, Studman Volleyball games, and Bonfire/Car Smash Pep Rally.
The Chili Cook-off will take place outside of Toby Leborgne Stadium by the concessions area. We have over 20 pots of chili signed up. Come try the wide variety of chilis and vote for your favorite. $100 will be awarded to the winner!
The Studman Volleyball games will be located in The Nest (main gym) and the Bonfire/ Car Smash will be located in the back west parking lot by the baseball field.
The cost is $5 for all-you-can-eat chili, but all events are FREE to attend and the entire community is invited!
STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES: October 2nd and 3rd
Why This Practice Matters: BUILDING STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
When students are asked to play a leadership role in selecting and presenting work to share with their families, they begin to take greater pride in the quality of what they do. A “progress report” becomes not just something given to them, but is actually something students have a hand in creating.
Scheduling your student led conference:
The button above is the Grand Valley Middle School Student Led Conference (SLC) scheduling system. This year the first 20 minutes of your student's SLC will be with their CREW teacher. These meetings will begin every hour on the hour. Then there will be 40 minutes after the SLC conference to visit with classroom teachers if you wish. No need to schedule, just drop in.
