Book Review: To All the Boys I've Loved Before
by Audrey Gilbert
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han is the first in a series of three books that tells the story about Lara Jean Covey and the chaos that unleashes after her secret love letters are sent out. It is also the namesake for an upcoming Netflix original movie that combines elements of all three books. The second book, P.S. I Still Love You talks more about Lara Jean and her now not-fake boyfriend Peter Kavinsky. The third book, Always and Forever, Lara Jean, is set a year later and outlines the stress of senior year.
The whole series is really funny and cute. I read it because I thought that it would be a fluff read, but I realized that you can’t judge a book on it’s title. While it was quick, and at some points, a little fluffy, it was actually really substantive and interesting. Lara Jean was like a real person. Some authors don’t develop their characters well, but Jenny Han did an excellent job. Han also incorporated references to famous rom-coms, which made the books even more lovable. The series was great all around. I gave the series an average four stars because the characters were well developed and the story was cute and funny.
Stay tuned for a review of the Netflix movie next week! If you liked this review, check out Audrey and her mom's blog at https://gilbertgirlstalkbooks.blogspot.com
FMS Student to Publish Book
Journalism Extension
by Hagan Schoolfield
The first week of school has come and gone and students are now starting to get used to the schedule. Everyone has extension classes so we thought it would be good to share a little more about one of the new extension offerings this year: Journalism.
In Journalism we do several things. Obviously, we publish The Frankfort Tribune, the newspaper that you are reading right now! We might interview you and you might have a chance of showing up in the newspaper if you are lucky. We also do a publish a website for special news extras and we just have a lot of fun doing it. We talk about what should write and how we want it written. We joke around a little and just do a lot of fun things.
Journalism is more than just a fun class, though. The school newspaper is also a good way to get involved with many things. You can write about something that you do not think is right at our school or in community, or even in the world around you. You can find the school newspaper at https://sites.google.com/frankfort.kyschools.us/thepantherpapers. In the school newspaper, we will be writing about world news, school news, and much more.
Game Review: Fallout 4
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being awesome) I’d give, the game Fallout 4 about an 8, maybe 8 ½. I say this because that Fallout 4 is very creative! Not only can you create your own guns, you can also create and customize your own character. Another are other reasons why I like Fallout 4 is because if you aren’t creative, then just upgrade your guns and/or weapons.
Another great feature is that this game allows you to make choices, this might ruin it, but it’s somewhat educational. The choices start your journey, and could end you early. In case you were wondering, what is the stuff you level up? Well, the stuff you can level up into: strength( how strong you are), perception (how you look at things), endurance, (how you can take hits), charisma (how well you talk to people), intelligence (you know what that is ), agility (how well you can run), and luck (how well you can dodge attacks).
The only reason why I don’t like Fallout is because you can’t drive. Driving, in my opinion, is what every game should have.Otherwise, I give Fallout 4 a big thumbs up!
