Definition
The "problem" which triggers action.
The struggle between two opposing (opposite) forces.
Types of conflict
External-Struggles or problem takes place outside the character
Internal-struggles or problems take place inside the character.
"Placing a cigarette between his lips, he struck a match immediately, a bullet flattened itself against the parapet of the roof.
I choose this quote because it explains the external conflict of being sniped and killed at any moment

Definition: The vantage point from which the author tells a story.
3rd Person limited: Narrator not part of the story. focuses on thoughts and feelings of one character. uses he or she. audience sees the story thoughts and feelings of himself or her self. not personal.
"Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brothers face".
I choose this Quote because it would show the feelings that the Sniper went through when he turned over the body and saw his brothers face.

Where and when the story takes place. Helps build background and create images in the mind. Helps set the tone or mood in the story.
This story is set in Dublin, Ireland, in the 1920s. During that time a civil war was taking place in Ireland to become republic.
"The long June twilight faded into night. Dublin lay enveloped in darkness but for the dim light of the moon that shone through fleecy clouds, casting a pale light as of approaching dawn over the streets and the dark waters of the liffey"
I choose this Quote because every single seeting is mostly in the beginning of the story and this quote tells where the and when this story takes place and what the weather was.
