HUSKY UPDATE

Another week down, and what an action packed week it was! Next week marks the end of the first quarter already!

Please note the following calendar highlights over the next couple weeks:
-October 21 - NO SCHOOL (In-service day)

-October 26, 27 - EARLY DISMISSAL ( students are released at 12:30) Parent/Teacher conference days

Shelf stable lunches are still being served. We are hoping to have hot lunch served by the fabulous Mr. Keith in mid November.

The cold weather hit us this week, which means it's time for winter gear. Please send your student with proper winter gear including hats, gloves, boots, snow pants and jacket. Please label gear with your student's name as many students have similar gear.

On Friday, 6th graders learned about rhythm and form in music while playing a cup-passing game to The Addam's Family theme song. Student's analyzed and discussed the muscial patterns all the while trying to keep up with the changes in tempo.

Coach opened the rock wall this for the first climbing session of the year, which included Super Hero Training! Students climbed like Spider Man, drove scooters like Bat Man, and flew like Super Man. It was another amazing week to be a Husky in PE!

Ghost, Pumpkin, and Bat pops will be on sale until October 27, 2022. Principal Kahler and SLC worked tirelessly on Thursday morning producing pops!

Red Ribbon Week (October 24 - October 31st) is approaching! SLC voted on the following spirit days last week (Please note there is no school on Friday Oct 28, so dress up days continue through Monday 10/31):

10/24- "Team Up Against Drugs" - Team jersey/color day

10/25- "Drugs can't find me" - Camoflauge day

10/26- "A Healthy me is Drug Free" - Work out gear day

10/27- "Put a cap on drugs!" - Crazy hat day

10/31- "Scaring drugs away" Halloween Costume Day

Our theme this year is "These Paws don't touch drugs!" Huskies have been filling out their paws and reasons why they choose to be drug free.

The magnificent Mrs. Johnston secured the rock band, The Avalanche, for our Red Ribbon Week Pep Rally! The Avalanche is part of the 9th Army Band, which is part of the 11th Airborne Division. We are so excited to rock out on Monday, October 24, 2022!

The Husky flag football team traveled to Taku on Thursday and went undefeated to wrap up an amazing season! Way to go, Huskies!

The fall carnival is coming together nicely thanks to all the hard work from from Mrs. Booher! Please join the PTO and attend the fall carnival on October 27, 2022 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased online here or at the door.

PTO is in need of cakes/cupcakes for the cake walk and volunteers. Head on over to the PTO website and click on the volunteer tab to sign up.

PTO is still looking for a Membership VP and general PTO members and we would love to have you!

Mrs. Souchik has the website looking fantastic and is hoping to have the link live for spirt wear ASAP. We appreciate all the hard work, Mrs. Souchik! You are amazing!

Fitzgerald will be at Homestead on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 to perform picture re-takes. Any student can have photos taken again - no need to pre-register. Make sure your student's teacher knows they need to go to see the photographer if you'd like re-takes done.

PTO is starting to plan the Spring Fundraiser and is looking for items for auction items. Please contact the PTO or front office if you have any items to donate. More information will be released in the following weeks.
