Multi-Tiered System of Supports in the Afternoon
The mission of Reeceville Elementary School is to help your child progress towards academic success, and we are very excited to be able to provide MTSS support during our virtual instruction. With this mission in mind, we have built MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) time into our daily schedule. MTSS time is from 1:40-3:10 or 1:00-2:30. The MTSS block is based on data collected from the Acadience Universal Screening competed in the Fall. The Acadience Universal Screening helps teachers determine the skills to target for instructional support and academic success for each student. Each child's teacher will schedule a specific MTSS time for the students and will communicate those times to families.
Problems Printing Report Cards
As you know, report cards were due to be distributed this week. We have encountered a problem in our student information system, in which the report cards are not printing properly. We want to ensure you receive an accurate and readable report card. We anticipate that you will receive your child's report card by the end of next week. We appreciate your patience and we will keep you updated as the need arises. Please contact me with any questions.

Mrs. Neff's Super Scientists
Mrs. Neff’s second grade class has been learning about animal adaptations in science class. In this lesson, we made a prototype of a bird feeder using materials we found around our house. We had to think about what type of bird we wanted to come to our feeder, what food the bird would eat, how the bird ate the food, and how to keep the birdfeeder safe from the outside elements and other predators. The students had lots of fun learning and building their birdfeeders! What great scientists!!!
Kindergarteners Show Off Their Counting Skills
Ms. Fleck's Kindergarten Class did a math lesson on counting by 10's. There are 110 fingers in Room 3.
Even on the Weekend. . .
This is Ryker practicing his Snap words on a Saturday. His teacher, Mrs. Bolko, is so proud of him.

Discontinuing Honor Roll
Although we will continue to celebrate the academic success of our students, we will no longer be awarding Honor Roll. In reflecting upon our academic practices and grade reporting, standards-based report cards measure the growth of students’ progress in relationship to each standard throughout a grading period. Our report card focuses on growth over end product. Thank you for your support as we continue to reflect and improve upon the educational decisions that impact our students.
Literacy Tips for Families from Mrs. Washington
It’s not unusual for children to become disinterested in reading. As noted in the Scholastic link below, the Scholastic Kids & Family Reading Report found the number of kids who read for fun five to seven days per week decreases from 57 percent to 35 percent between ages 8 and 9. This may have negative consequences on academic progress, as well as forming a lifelong love of reading. Read more about the causes and next steps you can take to rekindle an interest in books and reading. The Reading Rockets Tip Sheet for Parents of 3rd Graders will also provide helpful suggestions.
