Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School
Week of October 25, 2021
It's hard to believe, but the last week of October is here! Grade cards from the first quarter went live in PowerSchool on Friday. Please be sure to check the progress of your student(s) if you haven't already. Our third round of parent-teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, November 11 from 4:00-7:30. Contact our main office if you are interested in meeting with your child's teacher(s).
Friday will be our annual club picture day as well as our first day for senior portraits. See below for more information. Remember--to be included in the yearbook, all students must be photographed by HR Imaging on one of our in-school days.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.

How to Stay Safe While Running/Walking
Congrats to BWHS FFA Students
Last Tuesday, students in our Food Science classes took the Ohio FFA Online Food Science & Technology Career Development Event exam. Nearly 1200 students from 107 schools took the exam. For the fifth year in a row, our students placed first in the state in this event as a team. The score will follow all students through various levels of competition where they can compete for scholarships and other awards. This is especially exciting considering that Ohio FFA rules do not allow students to participate in an event they have previously won, so each of the past five years, we have had different students receive this honor rather than the same group on repeat.
Our top placing individuals were:
Mallory Cline, Olivia Jenkins, and Landon Sewell (tied for 7th overall); Haylie McComas (14th)
All these students will participate in the hands-on components of the sub-district Food Science & Technology CDE the second week in November.
Congrats to these students!
