Welcome to our Team!

Ms. Martavia Houston will be joining our team as the new ISS Paraprofessional. Ms. Haley Polson will join our team as the new stellar substitute, and Ms. Toniqua Johnson will join the MOID team as their second paraprofessional. Please help us welcome them to the JMS team. Each team member has a different start date, but we do anticipate having all our team members at JMS by the end of the month.

The article, Redo, Retakes, Done Right, is posted on the JMS training page. Please read prior to your WOW day. We will have a discussion on this article. Thanks!

RBES updates & Chalk Talk

All data charts in the community planning rooms need to reflect end of semester 1 results. RBES Chalk Talk posters are to be ready for your team's WOW Day. Electronic RBES udpate/reflection is due one week after your WOW day. If you need assistance using the PD&E digital tool/RBES midyear implementation update, please let a member of the leadership team know so we can provide you support.

Academic Recovery

Academic Recovery and Extended Learning Time begins Saturday. Lori Leigh Alderman is the director for the program. The program is in session for the next four Saturdays from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM. If you would like to work in the building on these days, please make sure you check in with Ms. Alderman.

Brief Observations and Formative Observations

The leadership team is completing Brief 3 observations and beginning on Brief 4 observations. Our goal is to have all observations completed prior to the end of February. We will conduct our annual evaluation summaries prior to Spring Break. Final RBES updates will be due during post planning in May 2016. If you have any questions about the timeline or process, please see a member of the leadership team.

Rescheduled Game: Jordan MS vs. Richards MS

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, January 23, 2016. Central Gwinnett High School is hosting a tournament that weekend, so the game has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 26, 2016. We are in need of volunteers to help with the ticket gate, concession, score table, and bleachers. Please let us know if you can support this game!

Desires of the Heart

We are beginning to plan for the upcoming school year, and need to know your "desires of the heart"! A pink form was placed in your mailbox Friday afternoon. Please return the form to Mrs. Nakesha Bruno Brown. If you would like to make an appointment to share your desire, please see Mrs. Nakesha Bruno Brown. Thanks!

Fine Arts and Literacy Night

We are hosting our second parent night on Thursday, February 4, 2016 beginning at 6:00 PM. If you were not able to support the math and science night, we ask that you support this event. Ms. Parker, Mrs. Armstrong, Ms. Morris, and Mr. Kasler are coordinating the evening's events.

Cyber Days & Practice

Please make sure you have created your cyber day lesson(s) for third nine week's content. In the event of a fourth school closure due to inclement weather, we may have the option of making up the time through a cyber day learning experience. In preparation, we are going to release a short activity on our FIRST SNOW DAY. This is a system check on the readiness of our school, teachers, and students. On the first snow day, there is no expectation of monitoring a discussion help board or logging in at least three times. The only expectation is a posting of an assignment for students. Please see Mr. Keag or Dr. Walker if you have questions.

First Semester Celebration

Thank you to Dr. Bishop and Ms. Sheryl Jones for organizing a great celebration! Thank you to the connection teachers for celebrating with our students! Let's see if we can get 100% of our students with 74% or higher in all subjects on semester two report cards!!!

Sam's Club

A representative from Sam's Club will be outside the cafe Thursday with some treats. Enjoy!

Yearbook on Sale $35

Yearbook sales have begun! Students can pick up forms in the media center.

Communique is the district's communication tool to highlight events in schools, the community, and share vital information. This week's communique highlights CGHS and Magic Wheelchair on the In Five segment.

Lunch on Awards Day

We are having to move some lunch tables to accommodate the award's ceremonies. Each team may have a different seating arrangement based on the table set up. Please be flexible for these two days. Mrs. Flamenco will have table markers on the tables to help your students. Please let your students know that we have a different arrangement on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Award Ceremonies in January

Following the issuance of report cards, we will begin the process for verifying and printing our awards: All A's, All A's & B's, Perfect Attendance, Connection Awards, Community, Leadership, Excellence, and the prestigious "Black Knight" award. We need to ensure that student names are spelled correctly and students earning an award receive an award.

Mr. Keag will provide additional information on the training page along with applicable deadlines. We will design an invitation and program for each grade level event. The award ceremonies will be held in the JMS Cafe at 9:30 AM with all students attending and parents invited for students receiving an award.

Team Recognition Program

Begin thinking about who you would like to recognize in December!

Each month, we will recognize team members who exhibit the pillars of Jordan MS: Community, Leadership, and Excellence! Teams can submit up to three names each month. Please include a brief narrative describing how the team member exemplified community, leadership, or excellence. We will celebrate during our vertical team meetings on Fridays!
