DONATE YOUR STEM CELLS
Aleksandra Krajewski - Period 6
What is a stem cell?
A stem cell is an undifferentiated cell of a multi-cellular organism that is capable of working as a different type of cell. Stem cells come from embryos or adult cells. Embryonic stem cells are more efficient because they are undifferentiated and can be used as any type of cell. An adult stem cells have limits on what it can work as.
STR is looking for clients
They are currently looking for people who would like to donate or sell their embryonic or adult stem cells to develop cures. They will offer a good amount of money to people who agree to it. STR says that stem cell research can benefit everyone.
How do stem cells work?
Stem cells can be used to treat many different types of diseases. They can cure diseases such as Alzheimer's, cancer, ALS, and even spinal cord injures. They are used to treat diseases because the undifferentiated cells can become any type of cell. Replacing lost or damaged cells in the process.
Is stem cell research a bad idea?
Many people believe that stem cell research is unethical and that it harms more than it helps. Others believe it's killing embryos and lowering the population. However, this is not the case because it's better to find cures to diseases than have a larger population with much more diseases and problems surrounding everyone. Stems cells are significant to everyone!
Our sponsor!
STR is a company that specializes in stem cell research. They are currently developing many cures to lifelong diseases. If we continue stem cell research, many of the diseases we have to deal with now, we no longer will face if we continue with our process. They encourage selling/donating embryos so that they can develop many different cures. Our client states, "Stem cell research has a large potential to increase life expectancy for years to come."
