Important Changes to the South Plains College Scholarship Portal
Shalyn Slape, SPC Scholarship Coordinator, has shared the following information regarding the SPC Scholarship Portal to pass on to parents and students:
The South Plains College Scholarship Portal will close five weeks from today, Monday, March 2, 2020, at 11:59p.m. If you have students who will be attending, or even considering SPC as a next step, please encourage them to start the scholarship application now. Students who are current dual credit students should be able to use their current MySPC credentials to log into the scholarship portal.
Students who are not current dual credit students, must first apply to SPC through records and admissions. It will take 7-14 days for their application to be processed, and an acceptance letter emailed to them. They will need the acceptance letter to get their username. Next the student will need to activate their MySPC account, and set-up an account password. It takes a day for this newly created password to upload to the scholarship portal, they should be able to sign in with their username and newly created password.
Complete the general scholarship application. All file uploads must be in pdf file format. It will not take Pages or Google Docs. Students will need at least one favorable letter of recommendation, and grades through the Fall 2019 semester of their senior year. ACT and SAT scores are not required when applying for scholarships, but if a student has taken either test, please have them upload those scores. Last requirement is a personal statement on why they are choosing SPC, what they hope to attain, and what they will do after SPC.
The scholarship portal web address is https://southplainscollege.academicworks.com/. The deadline is 11:59p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020. Students may have trouble logging in. After 5 failed attempts, the student will be locked out of the scholarship portal, but it will reset in 30 minutes. Students may also call the help desk, 806-716-2600, if they can sign into their MySPC portal, but cannot sign into the scholarship portal. The help desk can reset passwords as a last attempt.
Senior Sneak will take place on the Levelland Campus, Friday, February 21, 2020. Registration is now open for this event. You may contact Chase Dunn at cdunn@southplainscollege.edu or call (806)716-2116.
