My DC Trip
For my 8th grade trip we went to Washington DC. First we saw the Washington Monument. The 555 foot obelisk was made to honor our Revolutionary War general, and first president, George Washington. Then we saw the Lincoln memorial. This was finished in 1922 to honor the 16th president and leader of the union. Next we saw the Jefferson Memorial. It is made entirely of marble and there are his quotes on the inside. The Korean war Memorial represents the soldiers who lost their lives and set up the flag to win the war. The Iwo Jima Memorial is used to respect the soldiers who serve the marine core. Next we went to the Capitol. It represents the two parts of the legislative branch. My favorite museum was the Air and Space museum, and the Holocaust museum. I then went to Arlington National Cemetery. It was a very quiet and subtle place to honor the fallen soldiers of this world. The tomb of the unknown was honoring the MIA soldiers whose bods have never been found. We also saw the White house. This is the home of our president and future presidents. We went to the National Zoo and saw multiple animals like elephants and panda's. Unfortunately, due to rain, many exhibits were closed. We went to the Westin Airport Hotel. This was an amazing hotel with the sweets and comfy beds, and amazing room service. Finally, we went on the Dandy Dinner Boat cruise. The food on board was great and the music was loud and good. The boat was big and lots of fun to dance on. Overall the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip was my favorite field trip I've ever been on
