The peninsular war involved Napoleon's Empire and the allied powers Britain, Spain, and Portugal.
What
The peninsular war were military conflicts that continued from 1807 - 1814 for the control of the Iberian Peninsula during the Napoleonic Wars.
War began when Napoleon sent french troops through spain to invade Portugal leading to Napoleon throning his brother Jospeh into spain in 1808.
Ended with the Allied forces defeating Napoleon's army.
Where
Iberian Peninsula which is now under control of the United Kingdom.
Why
Peninsualr War occured because Napoleon tried to inforce the continental system upon Spain and Portugal by throning his brother, Joseph to Spain while later invading Portugal.
This event led to Napleon's defeat which led to France's semi-presidential system and a social republic. People of France are now allied with the allied powers.
