CYCLONE GABRIELLE SUPPORT
BLACK AND WHITE THEME or Home Clothes Day this FRIDAY MARCH 3rd
Schools in the Manawatu and around New Zealand are supporting all those affected by the Cyclone. With such a busy week we are holding this on FRIDAY - please bring a gold coin donation. The money we raise will be going to St Joseph's, Waipukurau.
POOL CLOSED NOW FOR TERM ONE - Unfortunately the part needed to fix our pool has yet to arrive. With the cooler mornings and nights we will now close the pool for Term 1. We move to other areas of our Physical Education curriculum.
A REQUEST - PLEASE CHECK IN AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE IF:
- You are dropping off a child after 9am so they can sign in and be marked present on the roll
- You are picking up your child during school hours for an appointment or early pick up (please do not go into classrooms during the school day). This is for the safety of all as we need to know who is in the school and where our children are. Thank you for your support with this.
- #1COOKIE TIME: Thank you for your support with this - what an amazing start to our rebuild of the Senior Playground. We have raised approximately $2000 so that is just amazing. Now on to the very popular Pie Orders.
- DOUGHBOYS PIE ORDERS - this order form will be coming home with your child today. We have added an example at the top to help with us with the ordering of this. These are a great dinner option or weekend easy meal.
CULTURAL EVENING
PARKING/ROAD SAFETY
Thank you for your support in keeping our children safe in and around the school, before and after the day. We truly appreciate your help with this.
Abundant blessings to you all for the term ahead. It's going to be a fabulous one.

# 2 - DOUGHBOYS PIE FUNDRAISING

SPONSORSHIP for our Senior Playground
28 February 2023
Dear
We would like to ask if you/your company would be able to support and sponsor Our Lady of Lourdes primary school in rebuilding our ‘Senior Playground.’ Our Lady of Lourdes is a primary Catholic school just off Pioneer Highway on Shamrock Street. We currently have 130 amazing children/tamariki aged from 5-10 years of age. We endeavour to provide a safe environment for children/ tamariki inside and outside the classroom that allows them to learn more about the Gospel values and those of the Mercy sisters, to develop new skills in a range of areas, being able to work independently and in teams, and to make a difference in our community through using kind hands, heart and voice.
At the start of this school year we had to close our much loved Senior Playground as it was no longer safe to use. Although we are a school, repairs to our playground equipment can not be sourced through ministry funding and relies on local fundraising, which we are busily undertaking at school.
We are asking local businesses/organisations/individuals to help us fund the repairs we need to complete this. We are looking for people that would be willing to invest in the repairs to the playground. Our school needs to fundraise an additional $6,000 - $10,000 before April for the repairs to take place and for our children to get their much loved and missed playground back in use.
In return for your sponsorship, we would display your company logo at the front of our school, on our website, a playground sponsors gallery on Facebook and school newsletter for the next two years. If you are an individual, we will have your name visible on our sponsor's board inside the school entrance. If your preference is to remain anonymous we are happy to accommodate that.
If you have any further questions or would like to make contact to discuss further , please feel free to email our school principal, Caroline Gilligan at: principal@olol.school.nz or phone during school hours on 06 3589727 or our Board Presiding member, Maria Amey at mariaamey80@gmail.com.
We thank you for your time in reading this, and we look forward to hearing from you.

BOARD NEWS
May 2-5 we have our catholic Review of our school - and closer to the time we will ask for your input.
Learning about who we are as a Catholic school, sharing a Bishops document, called 'The Catholic Education of School Age Children', our Integration Agreement, the Declaration, and how school property funds work.
We reviewed our annual budget, and the data that was shared last year, making new priorities for this year.
We discussed the rebuild of our Senior Playground. We are hoping to start this in the April school holidays. We are looking to reuse the metal parts of the existing playground ie slide, fireman's pole, climbing frame by getting this sandblasted and repainted. We have to rebuild the wooden structure as it is no longer safe to use. We have so far:
- sought approval from the Property Manager at the Diocese,
- have Matt, the architect, drawing up plans for a similar structure, compliant with all the new regulations
- have Chris and Jess Long Builders giving their time to build this for us
- have begun conversations around recycling the metal equipment - thanks Chris White
- have started fundraising - we have $4000 from last year in our funds, we have just raised $2000 through Cookie Time and hope to make around $5000 from our pie orders. We have just heard we can now go onto the EGG PROJECT so will get this information out to you when we know more.
- We are also looking for sponsorship to help with the rebuilding as well.
We are all excited for the year ahead and always put your child at the heart of all that.
