From the Principal:
As a reminder, Collins has been chosen to administer 6th grade Reading Language Arts and 5th grade Spanish Reading Language Arts and will administer the test on Wednesday, February 7. The purpose of the Stand-Alone Field tests is to gather data to properly integrate new components and question types into the future STAAR assessments. Participation in the STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test is mandated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) – districts and campuses may not opt out.
Collins will be a closed campus on this day - no visitors or lunch drop offs. We encourage scheduling of appointments on non-testing days, as testing rooms will not be interrupted before 2 pm for the early dismissal of students.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Wishing you a great week,
Shelli LeBlanc

6th grade parents:
As you are preparing for your student to attend Knox JH or another JH campus, please be aware that there are 2 vaccine requirements for 7th grade: the Tdap and Meningitis vaccines.
Normally children receive these immunizations at their 11 year old check up, so if your child has had these vaccinations please send the record to me and I will make sure they are added to the record so that they will be up-to-date for 7th grade. If they haven’t received them, please make plans to have it done soon.
Thanks!

7th Grade Course Registration is underway. Thank you for working with your students to select their 2024-2025 Knox Junior High classes. There are a few things we want to share with you:
Mrs. Deal has been in the library with the 6th graders helping them navigate the online portal. Parents/Guardians should be able to see some selections. These are not set in stone and can be changed until Thursday, February 15. Please remember- students need to choose a total of EIGHT (8) courses and THREE alternatives.
Both the online course selections (through the students Student Access Center) and the hard yellow copy they received from Knox are both due Thursday, February 15th. (This is a change from February 9th. We aligned our due date with the date the online portal closes.)
Knox is working with the district to fix the glitches you may be seeing as you try to enter courses. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through your questions and concerns.
Knox is also working to gather applications and try out information so we can share with our students. We will communicate with you as soon as we get the information.
Off Campus Pe has been a big question. Those applications will go live on the district’s website around Spring Break. We will put the link the newsletter when it’s available.
If you have questions regarding course selections, please feel free to contact Mrs. Deal (our 6th grade counselor) or the counselors at Knox. They can be reached at 832.592.8400.

In Mrs. Williams’ art class, students are finishing up making their clay sculptures. Once completed we will be moving into our highly structured studio environment where students will get the option of working with a variety of different mediums.
