Geography
-warm, humid summers

South

-Fertile soil, ideal for crops
Transportation
-30,000 miles of track were laid down by 1850
-Most railroad tracks were in the north
South
-Mostly water travel because it was cheaper
-Less railroad tracks than north
Society
North
-Most of the society was dirty and diseased filled and the streets were usually filthy
-Most people did dress nicely despite the conditions they lived in
South
-The south was mainly based on your ordinance
-You were usually either a slave, master, landowner, and/or woman
Economy
North
-The huge part of the north was factory work and different parts of industrialism
-This was the job for most of the people in the north at the time
South
-When you think of the north, you primarily think of agriculture. This was the souths number one thing their economy was based off of
-Many of the workers were slaves which were African American. This meant great amounts of work for nothing
