ACURILEAN AWARD 2015
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
ACURIL announces the Information Professional in the Caribbean Award in order to recognize and honor the individual commitment, excellence in performance, and outstanding professional achievement of an information specialist (librarian, archivists, documentalists, etc.) in the Caribbean, members of ACURIL (in any of the linguistic areas: English, French Spanish or Dutch). It is ACURIL's interest to stimulate and stand out the highest performance of information professionals in the Caribbean, members of the organization.
The prestige of the ACURIL Awards Program rests upon its members. ACURIL urges you to take some time to reflect on the accomplishments of your colleagues and actively participate in this program. To celebrate, join us nominating a colleague and be part of the ACURILEAN Evening of Awards.
A. DESCRIPTION, NATURE, CRITERIA, GUIDELINES AND RULES
1. DESCRIPTION. To recognize an individual, member of ACURIL, who has made an outstanding national or regional contribution in an area of the information field, as demonstrated by excellence in performance, leadership, research, publication or a combination of these elements, and the distinguished ability to share that knowledge.
2. NATURE OF THE AWARD. THE ACURILEANA, Medal of Excellence, and a citation.
3. CRITERIA. Nominations from the three linguistic areas of ACURIL (English, French, Spanish) and Dutch will be accepted. Applicants for the award must meet the following criteria:
3.1 Only information specialists belonging to ACURIL member institutions or ACURIL personal members qualify.
3.2 Current Executive Council members are ineligible for nomination.
3.3 Nominees must currently be working as an information professional in any type of information unit or self employed doing information work.
3.4 If no application meets the selection criteria appropriately, the Jury is not obligated to present an award.
4. GUIDELINES. Nominations must be in writing and contain the following elements identified in following sections.
Section A. Application Cover Sheet (Must be typed)
-Name of the Category
-Name of the Nominee
-Local Address (City, Country, Zip code)
-Telephone ; Fax
-e-mail ; Webpage, if any.
-Names of two (2) ACURIL members submitting the Nomination-Local Address (City, Country, Zip code);Telephone ; Fax ; e-mails.
Section B. Description.
Should not exceed 10 total pages, double spaced, typed in at least 12 point type, using Microsoft word; font: Times New Roman; with the following elements:
1. A brief description of the candidate's significant professional achievements and an assessment of the candidate's potential leadership and continuing excellence.
Include specific comments on the following:
1.1 Accomplishments in Information Work (libraries, archives, museums, information and documentation centers, etc.).
1.2 Impact of Work. Identify and describe the effect of the nominee's work on her/his institution and the extent of its influence beyond.
1.3 Service to the Profession. Describe the nominee's service to the profession and professional associations and evidence of his or her professional leadership role.
1.4 Visibility and Recognition of Work. Identify and describe the extent to which colleagues, administration and information clientele recognize the nominee's achievements.
1.5 Major Current Undertakings. Describe work and other activities in which the nominee is currently engaged which indicate continued career growth and significant contribution.
2. In an Appendix, include:
2.1 A current curriculum vitae (not more than 3 pages)
2.2 Any further information which may assist the Jury in the evaluation of the nomination and the selection of the recipient.
