Kids in the system

Working with the kids
-Case workers burn out and leave the profession in very high numbers. The annual turnover rate in the child welfare workforce is more than 20 percent.
-The recommended number of cases for a social worker is 17. In some states, the number is three or four times that number.

Maltreatment of Foster kids
-Some children who died from abuse or neglect were Already known to CPS. In 31 states, the children whose families CPS tried to keep intact during the past five years accounted for 11.6 percent of child fatalities in 2013. In 37 states, 3.1 percent of children who died from abuse or neglect had been in foster care and were reunited with their families in the past five years.
- Over 91% of perpetrators of child Maltreatment were parents acting alone, together, or with other individuals.
