Weekly Message from the Principals
Dear SOK families,
Today our entire student body took part in our Career Exploration Day here at SOK. With COVID protocols still in place we had to shift to a virtual format this year; however, it was still a fantastic opportunity for students to gain more knowledge about future career possibilities. Students heard from community members as well as staff from several postsecondary institutions in a variety of career pathways including Engineering, Agriculture, Business Management, IT, Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation, Healthcare, Technology and the Arts, Earth and Biological Sciences, and Mechatronics. We are grateful for the opportunity our Spartans had to make connections between who they are and where they may be headed in the future. A huge shout out to Mrs. Heater, Mr. Vore, Mrs. Seagrave, Mr. Dickey and Ms. Sater for making this day possible for our Spartans!
Today also marks the last edition of our Spartan News for the school year - hard to believe that this unbelievable year is wrapping up next week! One final thank you from all of us at SOK for your ongoing partnership in the education of your children, and congratulations on making it through this challenging year! We are looking forward to a return to a “new normal” as we prepare for the new school year ahead. Please read through important information and reminders for our last week of school and dates for fall registration below.
8TH GRADE CELEBRATION - CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2025
The Class of 2025 is officially heading to high school in the fall - and we will be celebrating this milestone with them! We will be holding a short ceremony with our current in-person 8th grade students and staff on our last day of school, Wednesday, June 9th, while also continuing to follow all of our physical distancing, face-covering, sanitizing and safety protocols. Unfortunately, with these COVID protocols in schools still in place, we will not be able to host any external visitors. Thanks for understanding this necessary modification as we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff. We will be live streaming and recording this ceremony for LebOnline students and all families to watch. The celebration is scheduled to begin at 10:00a on Wednesday (6/9). Please click here for additional information on how to watch this live stream event (It is recommended to review this information and access the website prior to next Wednesday in preparation for the event).
CHROMEBOOK EXCHANGE
All current 6th and 7th graders: Please bring your chromebooks to school next week. Our Media Specialist, Mrs. Cook, will be exchanging current chromebooks for newer models, and we need to take care of this before the school year ends. Thanks for your help in reminding your students to bring their chromebooks next week!
LEBONLINE STUDENTS
Next Thursday, 6/10 and Friday, 6/11, LebOnline students or family members may return textbooks, library books, or other SOK materials to our school. Current 8th graders may also pick up their Promotion Certificates at this time. Please come to the front of the school between 8:00a and 2:00p on those days to return and/or pick-up items as needed.

CONNECTING WITH YOUR STUDENTS ON CANVAS
We want to encourage all parents/guardians to pair with your students as an observer in Canvas. This is a great way to learn more about what your student is doing in each of his/her classes, check on grades, and assist as needed. The instructions to pair are here on the Student/Parent Training Course. You can also view the Canvas instructions on how to do it. Click here for the instructions in Spanish.
DC Trip - 7th and 8th graders
There is also more information for 7th graders - Renee Foster will hold a meeting in regards to this on June 8th at 6:30p in the SOK parking lot near the cafeteria.
This is not a school sponsored event. Please email Renee Foster with any questions rfoster2d@gmail.com.
