Mashburn Elementary
A Message from Our Principal
Dear Mashburn Staff,
As I reflect on my very first staff meeting with you all as I discussed IMPACT- to hit with force, to affect, or to have an effect (on). I realize my IMPACT has touched you all in different ways- some good and some not so good. I want to reflect each and every day to hopefully take my reflections and make my IMPACT to be like the pebble being dropped into the water that causes a ripple effect not the grain of sand that quickly goes away. Here are my 3 words and their actions as I try to lead Mashburn:
Purpose – Guide, Collaborate and Continue to grow myself and others to ensure students get what they need – academically, socially/emotionally
Belief - Every Child is Special and Can Achieve as we work together to find how that child can achieve
Vision – Supporting Forsyth County Learner Profile, Creating students who think Critically, work Collaboratively, Oral and Written Communication, Initiative, Analyzing Information, Curiosity through collaboration, deconstruction of Standards, Data Driven Instruction
Three words characterize anyone who has an IMPACT in their life:
Purpose- Thank you all for coming to work each day with a PURPOSE to ensure students get what they need- academically and in the social/emotional realm.
Belief - Thank you for your belief each day that Every Student Can and if students struggle You find a Way
Vision – Thank you for working toward the Vision of preparing students for what they need to be productive in middle school, high school, and the work force being the Foundation of the Forsyth County Learner Profile
Thank you ALL for the IMPACT that you make each and every day on someone’s most Precious Gift- A Child.
Carla

Technology During Indoor Recess
We had a great discussion and brainstorming session with teachers from all different grade levels today at the Technology Brainstorming Meeting! Thank you to all of the teachers who came and gave their suggestions for technology use moving forward! We value your input so much!
As a team, we decided to implement a no technology use during indoor recess time rule for the entire school. In place of technology, teachers suggested students play board games, class games (heads up 7 up....), create games, free art time, etc. This time gives students the opportunity to socialize, collaborate, and be creative. We all agreed that the students may need time to "turn off" from technology since they use it all day. Please let Carol Ann know if you have any questions/concerns.
Action Item
Moving forward, there will be no technology use during indoor recess.
