Veterinarian
My Dream Career
What do large animal veterinarians do?
A large animal vet works with large animals. By large animals I mean horses, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs. When you're a vet you get to do many different things. One of the things are floating the animals teeth. This means the vet will grind down the sharp points on the animals teeth. Sometimes the tooth will loosen and they'll have to pull it out.
Why did I choose this?
I choose this because I enjoy helping and/or working with animals. I have lots of experience with veterinarians and what they do. I think it's also cools what vet's can do. It's also cool on how serious they can get to save an animal.
What skills do veterinarians need?
The most important skill is a passion for animals and a commitment to the health and well-being of animals. The future veterinarian cannot just own a dog or cat; he must have desire to care for the pet and keep it healthy and happy. Veterinarians must also have a natural curiosity about other species, such as domestic farm animals or exotic species that live in the wild.
What education do you need to become a vet?
Earning a doctor of veterinary medicine degree typically takes four years. Although it is sometimes possible to gain acceptance to a college of veterinary medicine without first earning a bachelor’s degree, most students have completed their undergraduate degrees before enrolling.
What branch of science is a vet in?
A vet is the Life branch because it deals with animals.
What is something I found interesting about this career?
Something I found interesting is how you do everything to the animals. Like how you give them shots or how to float the animals teeth.
