The Regions 1&2 ECSE Snippets purpose is to provide monthly communication with practitioners regarding regional happenings, upcoming trainings and resources. It is each practitioners responsibility to check with their district/supervisor regarding use of the resources and participation in professional development opportunities.

Week of the Young Child
Today we know more than ever before about the importance of children's earliest years in shaping their learning and development. Yet, never before have the needs of young children and their families been more pressing. The Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize that children's opportunities are our responsibilities, and recommit ourselves to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment - at home, at child care, at school, and in the community - that will promote their early learning.
NAEYC ask everyone in the early education community to Step It Up (SIU) during WOYC and spread the word about the importance of high-quality early learning, and the critical role early childhood educators play in a child's development and learning. National Assistive Technology Awareness Day
Proposed Changes to the Special Education Early Childhood (ECSE) Licensure Standards
(Minn. R. 8710.5500) was published in the State Register on March 14, 2022 (see Minnesota State Register, Volume 46, page 1089). You have an opportunity to participate in the rule-making process by providing comments to the proposed change during the comment period that runs until May 20, 2022.
PELSB is proposing to replace the existing standards with the practice-based standards for ECSE teachers released by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), in partnership with the CEC’s Division for Early Childhood in 2020. Additionally, the Board is proposing to expand the scope of the ECSE license from “birth through age 6” to “birth through grade 3.”
