2021 November PCS Parent Newsletter

November is Family Engagement Month

#NationalParentalInvolvementDay

November is Parent Engagement Month as stated by Governor Kemp in the his Proclamation of Family Engagement Month which allows us an opportunity to celebrate parents and the valuable supportive role that they play in the academic success of their children. As a school system we celebrate our parents and strive to offer supports and resources and raise awareness about the difference they make in their student's success. The 28th Annual National Parent Involvement Day is on November 18, 2021 and the event encourages schools to engage and honor the powerful contributions of families in success student outcomes!

This month look for various parent engagement activities or events to participate in at Pelham City Schools. Each event you attend or as you read this newsletter look for opportunities to enter our "Celebrate our PCS Parents" gift basket drawing.

Building Character

November Character Trait is Empathy!

Learn more about things you can do at home to reinforce the monthly character traits that our schools are focusing on each month. This month the character trait is empathy! Students will learn about empathy this month and be involved in activities to promote building this character trait. Check out this home resource about empathy below.

Before school began this year almost all of our staff were privileged to be trained in a program called "Capturing Kids Hearts". The CKH program is a relationship and skill building program that has been instituted in nearly all classrooms this year. The resources embedded in this article of the newsletter are from CKH and give families some great tools to use at home in both English and Spanish.
