Pablo Tac's Family Newsletter
Principal Message
Dear families,
I am excited to announce the addition of a new member of our team, Izamar Sanchez. Ms. Sanchez is our Community Schools Coordinator. Her job will be to access community resources to benefit students and families at school. Pablo Tac is one of 7 schools in the Oceanside school district who form the Community Schools community. This will be a wonderful program for our school!
Vision to Learn: Our first Community Schools program is Vision to Learn. Vision to Learn is a nonprofit organization that helps overcome obstacles to vision care by bringing a mobile clinic to low-income schools and providing eye exams and glasses for free. On November 15, the Vision to Learn optician will be conducting vision screenings to all students in the classroom. Follow-up eye exams for prescriptions will be provided at a later date for those students who need them.
Power Play: On Monday, October 24, we will be launching our morning activity program, Power Play for students in grades 1-5. Students can come to campus as early as 7:45 and participate in fun activities (i.e., dance, skills games, and Fast Feet jog club) before school. The purpose of Power Play is to increase physical activity, prepare students for learning, decrease tardies, and have fun! We encourage you to bring your child to school early to participate in the fun, get to school on time, and avoid the morning traffic!
Halloween: This year, Halloween takes place on a Monday. While we encourage a little bit of play in our day, our primary focus is learning. Students may wear costumes to school as long as they are appropriate to be wearing for a day of learning and exercise. We will have a costume contest at lunch recess. Masks, excessive gore, and weapons are not permitted. Appropriate shoes should be worn at all times.
Warmly,
Carla Aranda
Earthquake Preparedness On Thursday, October 20th, we recognize the international earthquake preparedness event with an earthquake drill. Students will Drop! Cover! and Hold On! in the classroom to practice safety in the event of an earthquake. This is a great time to talk about earthquake preparedness at home too! Our Student Ambassadors are hosting a fun-filled week of activities and spirit dress. Please see this Red Ribbon Week schedule for what to wear each day of the week! Additionally, parents may want to be aware of the recent uptick in rainbow-colored Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a highly dangerous drug. When it is produced in bright colors, it can resemble candy. Being informed helps us all be vigilant in keeping students safe.
