infinitive phrase: a group of words consists of an infinitive and the modifier or (pro)noun or noun phrase that function as the direct object, indirect object.


the infinitive phrase gives the main idea of the sentence.

Example 1

Megan hopes to win approval of her mother by not being an idiot anymore.

Example 2

To get through the rest of midterms was Megan's only goal today.

Example 3

The best way to survive Megan's stupidity is get a laser to shine and distract her.

Example 4

To pass math was my only wish.

Example 5

Megan hopes to eat her sadness away after her dog ran away.
