The Road to Success

It is never too early to start thinking about how the next 4 years will impact life after high school. In the freshman year, it is important to start planning out your high school experience, as well as, thinking about what types of colleges and careers might interest you and seeking out opportunities to learn and grow!

What are the A-G Requirements?

In California, the A-G system guides families to understand what classes students should take to be ready for a 4-year institution. Students must earn a "C" or better for a course to count as A-G. To learn more about A-G visit the University of California A-G Guide.

Napa Valley College Courses

We generally don't recommend students to think about taking Napa Valley College courses until at least Spring of their Sophomore year. New Tech High students are required to complete at least 12 units (20 high school credits) of UC transferable college courses. Here are some helpful tips when thinking about what courses might be appropriate:

  • What courses might be good entry points to the college experience?
  • What other activities do I have going on that might be affected by college classes?
  • Do I know the difference between high school classes and college classes?

In addition to the digital application, there is a hard copy verification form that must be signed by parents/guardians. Below you can find a link to the application and the verification form can be picked up by students in the office.
