New Feature to Report Student Absences
Absence Request Tool
We are excited to present to you a new method of reporting student absences in just a few easy steps. Effective immediately, parents and guardians can now use the Absence Request tool in the Campus Portal of Infinite Campus to submit an absence request for one or all student(s) to inform the school office in advance when their student is not going to be in school. This is available for all Waunakee Community School District schools and all grade levels, 4K-12th grade. This feature can also be done on a desktop computer and a mobile device. Please click here to view instructions on how to submit a new absence request in the Parent Portal, view absence requests, and how to delete a request.
For questions or help creating a Campus Parent account, please reach out to Julie Gengler, District Registrar, via email. You can also visit our school websites under the Family Tab/Attendance for more information.
Thank you for your participation and cooperation as we roll out this new tool for our families!
Sincerely,
Anne Blackburn, Communications & Engagement Specialist

HOSA Students Organize Community Awareness Campaign
Hello Families: Our names are Emeline Shefchik, Catherine O’Brien, Kiera Collins, and Abbey Eberle. We are all sophomores here at the high school and are involved in HOSA.
We’ve started a community awareness campaign called BIMAC (Black Infant Mortality Awareness Campaign). Wisconsin is currently leading the country for the highest number of black infant deaths. Something that we found alarming was that African American mothers receive little to no prenatal care compared to white mothers. To educate our community about this issue, we have started an Instagram account (@wearebimac) and have been featured in both The Waunakee Tribune and Purple Sage. One organization we have reached out to is called The Harambee Village. It is an organization here in Madison that helps women and minorities seek a healthy pregnancy and birthing experience. Founder and CEO Tia Murrary will be joining us in early April during contact time to speak about this organization and its goals. If you are interested in joining, sign up for Mrs. Gascho's contact time. Our campaign logo
Little Woodlot Expansion
YOUR DONATION IS APPRECIATED!
The Friends of Schmidt’s Woods extends a huge thank you to all who donated towards the expansion of the Little Woodlot on the grounds next to Endres Mfg. The purpose of the garden is to expand native plant habitat, provide a learning opportunity for students, and to increase the aesthetics of the school grounds along its most visible street side. We value each and every one of our supporters and appreciate all the help in reaching our goal. Thank you!
