For the Week of September 12th
Our theme this year is "Wolfpack Strong." We believe that learning and growing together is the key to our success. Strength lies in the pack, and we will remember this theme throughout the year as we work cooperatively to be successful!
Learning Objectives This Week
Reading
Identify point of view, conflict, and foreshadowing and explain why authors use them in short stories.
Wednesday: Point of View - Minor
Writing
Review dialogue; why do writers use dialogue and review the rules of dialogue (mechanics)
Draft an imaginative story
Math
Using multiplication and estimation to solve problems
Science
Classifying matter based on the ability to conduct or insulate thermal or electrical energy
Identify the boiling point and freezing point of water on the Celsius scale
Social Studies
Read and discuss Early English Settlements
Homework
Homework is a completion grade the first semester.
Reading- See Canvas. You must turn in a hard copy of your homework
Math- See Canvas. You must also turn in a separate sheet of paper showing your work.
Science-See Canvas. It's under quizzes. No need to turn any papers in!

September 20, 5:00pm - Read, Deed, Run Mandatory Parent Meeting (Library)

October 10 -Fishing field trip (more information to come)
Read, Deed, Run Information:
Students read 26 books (or 2,600 pages), perform 26 good deeds in the community, and run a total of 26.2 miles. Students run their final 1.2 miles in a "race" to earn their finisher's tshirt and medal, along with students from all the other schools in KISD participating in Read, Deed, Run!
More information about how to register will be in the newsletter. The fee for registration is $30.
Meetings will begin in October and will be about every other week from 3:45-4:45 (Tuesday).
September Core Essential: Responsibility
Responsibility-Proving you can be trusted with what is expected of you. The rooster is the animal that represents this month's core essential and brown is the color.
