News You Can Use
We love technology!
Our Bryan readers are still leading the pack when it comes to middle school students reading eBooks! We are adding new kids every week to our growing number of students who are reading online. We have welcomed reading on devices (tablets, phones & ereaders) for the last several years and that mindset has spread throughout our building. All students have been taught how to access their account and so check out any ebook they choose!.Embracing a BYOD (bring your own device) approach has allowed our students to check out eBooks from our catalog in droves and we couldn't be happier! Of course our books on the shelf are circulating as well, but it is so great that the kids a have choice when it comes to their approach to reading.
It's cozy in the Learning Commons
We have transitioned to winter complete with hanging snowflakes and holiday-themed bulletin boards! Chilly weather is the perfect time to curl up and read!
Genre Wheel
Our December lesson has been so much fun! Kids get to spin the "Genre Wheel" and are challenged to check out a book from the genre they landed on! I love getting to chat with every single student about their favorite go-to genre!
What I am reading: What Light by Jay Asher
Who can resist a book at this time of year that has a Christmas plot?! Sierra's family owns an Oregon Christmas tree farm. They transport the trees to a tree lot in California each year. This year brings a holiday romance - but can it last?
The Season of Giving
We know that Bryan Patriots have big hearts, but it never more evident than at Christmas. Our school community pulls together to donate to Toys for Tots, the NJHS canned food drive, and the Giving Tree. This means that Christmas will be a little brighter for people who need our help.
