Mrs. Richardson's and Mrs. Dorothy's Kindergarten Class

APRIL 20 - April 24

What is going on this week at Ruth Hill?

Grades 3-5 will be taking the Milestones test this week and next. The Milestones test has replaced the CRCT and your student will start to take them in the 3rd grade as well. This affects us in several ways. Dorothy will not be in our room in the morning because she has to help with testing. We are very lucky in that Mrs. Minix, Natalie's mom, has agreed to come in and help out in Dorothy's absence. Milestones testing has also altered our daily schedule. Our Specials will be at different times each day and for only 20 minutes, not 45.

What is going on this week in our classroom?

A LOT!!!

In preparation for the GKIDS Assessment, I will be introducing new math skills and finishing up final assessments in all subjects. In order for a student to get MASTERY on their report card and GKIDS, they must pass 3 assessments in each area of a subject.

How can you tell if your student is on track?

Look below in the math section of "Mrs. Richardson's Golden Apples." If your child's name is listed, then they are on track. If their name is not listed, then that means they are missing one or more of their assessments and this is what I will be focusing on for the next two weeks. I will also be administering third and final assessments in those math areas.

Not only will I be doing this in Math, but in all subjects. There are 85 kindergarten standards I will be checking to make sure each child has passed all 3 of their assessments in preparation for GKIDS which is due May 8th.

How can you help your student?

1. Make sure they are at school everyday and on time.

2. Make sure they get plenty of sleep.

3. Make sure they eat a good breakfast.

Classroom T-shirts

I would like to make a classroom T-shirt with each of our student's hand drawn face on the front of it (see picture below). In order to do this, I must have at least 12 paid orders. If you are interested, please send in $10.00 by Wednesday. Please send in cash or you can make a check out to me (I have to write a check to the t-shirt company). If I don't get enough interest, I will send your money back on Friday.

Please indicate what size:
  • Youth S(6-8) M(10-12) L (14-16)
  • Adult (Parents can order one too!) S, M, L, XL, 2XL ($12.00), 3XL ($12.25)

I hope that we get enough orders as these shirts are really awesome!
