Women Pressured to be Perfect
In our society women are pressured to be perfect. Everyone expects women to look a certain way and be a certain way. Women are expected to have the "perfect body", a good sense of style, and wear just enough makeup.
Society makes women feel like they have to have the "perfect body." Society is constantly telling women ways to lose weight and get the perfect body. Magazines always have something about toning your body, and losing weight on the front page.
The diet aisle is tailored toward women. Most diet commercials lean towards women and talk about ways women can lose weight. On most diet boxes there is pictures of only women. Women are constantly pressured to be on a diet and lose weight.
Most magazines have women with "perfect bodies" as the front cover. Magazines never show the true beauty of anyone. Photos are always photo-shopped and make women feel like they should look like that.
Magazines say "have the perfect body" next to a skinny woman. This makes women feel like they only way they can have a perfect body or be beautiful is if they're skinny.
Makeup ads make us feel like we will only be beautiful when we wear makeup. Women should feel beautiful in their own skin. Many makeup ads will say be "flawless" with this makeup on. No one should want to be flawless, it's utterly impossible. Makeup should not define our beauty.
Our society makes us feel like we need to wear certain clothes to look good. Social media and magazines always talk about whats in style and what we should wear. There's also something called the "Fashion Police," and those are the people who judge what women are wearing and put them down. This is showing women that they can't wear what they want without getting judges.
Magazines photo shop images to make certain women look "perfect." By magazines editing women that makes us feel like our natural self is not acceptable. It makes us feel like we need to be edited or photo-shopped to be beautiful.
Society has taught women to envy the women who are perfect and has taught us to strive to be like them. Women should not want to be like the photo-shopped women in the magazines. Another women's beauty is not the absence of your own. Since society has made us want to be like other women that makes us not appreciate our own beauty that is already there.
Society believes that weight defines our beauty. It does not matter if a woman is skinny, curvy, thick, or overweight. We are all beautiful in our own skin. Losing 50 pounds does not make an overweight woman more beautiful; she is still as beautiful as she was before. People are too quick to judge someone when they seen a woman that is bigger than a "perfect" model.
Most ads only use women that are tall and/or skinny to model their things. Victoria's Secret and other popular stores are only tailored to women who have the "perfect body." All over, we mostly see ads with women who are skinny.
