A Message from Mr. Hoog
Hello BSE Families,
It was certainly great to see our children again on Tuesday; we were ready for them to return! We look forward to an amazing second semester of learning at BSE!
You should have received a Skylert yesterday reminding you that next week your child will receive a lesson in Body Safety. Back in August we shared that SEA 355 requires all school districts to provide instruction to all K-12 students on child abuse and child sexual abuse. Chaucie’s Place will be providing the instruction to all grade levels for Hamilton Southeastern Schools. Chaucie’s Place is a child advocacy organization in Hamilton County that focuses on the prevention of child sexual abuse and youth suicide through education. Please contact our Counselor, Mrs. Thorne, or our main office, if you have any questions.
Also, second quarter report cards have recently been updated and posted. Please keep in contact with your child’s teacher about his/her progress.
We thank you for your continued support of our great school!
Mr. Hoog

Book Donations
As families continue to clean out and purge, please keep the BSE library in mind. Mrs. Kussy will accept any used book donations. They will either be added to the BSE preschool library or will be saved for the amazing Book Exchange at the end of the year. Thank you!
Library Volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering in the library, please email Mrs. Kussy at mkussy@hse.k12.in.us. Each day hundreds of books are returned which need to be scanned back into the system and shelved. Your help allows Mrs. Kussy to co-teach and collaborate with teachers to best serve the students. It takes minutes to learn and all it requires is a Safe Visitor pass. Thank you.

Math and Science Night
Math and Science night is around the corner on Wednesday, February 13th! We look forward to seeing everyone and we are looking to add to our team to pull off this fun event. We will meet a few times before the event to help with the recruiting of exhibits and logistics for the event, and then help set up and monitor the day of the event. No experience required other than a love of science and some willingness to have some fun with the team to organize this great event for the kids. Please contact Amy Pollak (abpollak@gmail.com), Jill Ritter (jillianritter@yahoo.com) or Eric Farny if you you are interested (ericfarny@gmail.com).
Also, if anyone would like to have a table or knows a person, business or community group that would like to participate, please let us knew. We have a lot of returning favorites, but are always looking for something new!
