Afternoon Student Safety Concern

Students playing with footballs, soccer balls, and other items at the CVS and Sonic after dismissal is posing a significant safety risk. Students have run out into busy traffic to pursue the balls and are nearly involved in an accident. Furthermore, some students choose to become obstinate when a staff member asks them not to throw balls. We want our students to remain safe and we need your help.

Our amazing PTSA has supplied the school with balls and other equipment for students to use at brain break so it is not necessary for students to bring balls to school. Parents, please help us with student safety by keeping the balls at home.

We appreciate your support.

Summer School Registration

On Monday, April 4th, SCCPSS sent an email to families about the Embrace Summer Learning Program. Parents will need to register their student for summer school if there is a chance that he or she may need to attend in order to be promoted. Registration must be completed by April 18th.

  • Parents are asked to view Q3 report card and current grades for Q4 in Power School.
  • Students may recover only 1 or 2 core content classes during summer school. If a student fails 3 or more core content courses for the year, he or she will not be promoted.
  • Last day to register for summer school is April 18th

If you have questions regarding summer school, please contact our summer school coordinator, Mrs. Sauers, via text or phone call at (843) 631-6424 or via email at caroline.sauers@sccpss.com.

Technology and Cell Phones

Even though technology use is a large part of our culture, there are still many times when it’s just not a good idea to use devices. Technology can only be used during class time at the discretion of the teacher. Additionally, technology is not allowed to be used during class transition, lunch, and brain break. Violations of technology use are considered Inappropriate Use of Technology and subject to our Ticket System. (STEM Academy Student Handbook)

Cell phones are causing significant distractions to the learning environment. Cell phones need to remain in the student’s pocket, purse, or book bag. Students are not allowed to have their cell phones out at any time during the school day without permission from a teacher or an administrator. This expectation has been communicated with students.

We appreciate the support of our parents.

Keeping Our Students Safe on Social Media

Social media can be a positive tool however, there are times when social media is misused particularly, when mean and unkind things are posted. We cannot stress enough how important it is that parents regularly review their child's text messages, social media, pictures, videos and other communications.

We encourage everyone, especially our students, to THINK before posting:
  • T - Is it True?
  • H - Is it Helpful?
  • I - Is it Inspiring?
  • N - Is it Necessary?
  • K - Is it Kind?

Morning Drop Off

Parents, please help us to ensure the safety of students and staff during morning drop off by following the traffic directions of our campus police officer. It is a right turn only onto Montgomery Cross Road as you exit campus during morning drop off.

Thank you for your support.
