Get Ready for Global Maker Day!

Global Maker Day is a day to recognize and celebrate creativity, design thinking & collaboration. How can we, as a whole school, participate in Global Maker Day? Here are some easy suggestions:

You can register your class at http://www.globalmakerday.com where you can LEARN from live sessions, SHARE student work and PLAY by participating in posted challenges. OR...before Oct. 23rd;

  1. We have some great books in our school on the theme of creativity, design thinking, or growth mindset. Find a buddy class who is reading the same book (some examples below). Most of these books are on YouTube as well.

  2. Explore conversations/questions/new ideas that this book uncovers in your classroom.

  3. Help students to use the language of the Design Process to create/make/ideate based on their brainstorming ideas -

  4. Allow time on Global Maker Day for students to create based on their plan.

  5. Share your findings with a buddy class. What do you notice? What do you wonder? How can you share your work with others? (This may be a follow up to Oct. 23rd).

  6. Making can be anything! Sewing, baking, coding, art, cardboard designs, lego creations, paper constructions, design challenges! Let your students' creativity soar!

There is already a culture of inquiry, desinging & hands on learning to help kids learn so let's highlight this awesomeness on October 23rd!

SHARE the learning process using hashtags #GlobalMakerDay2018 and tag @Southview_LDSB #LearnLaughLean #WeAreOne
