Organs of the Circulatory

The organs in the circulatory are the heart, and blood vessels (arteries, capillaries, and veins) and blood.

The fuctions of the Circulatory system

The functions of the Circulatory system are to transportation of nutrients, waste, oxygen and carbon. The specific function of the heart is to propel blood and it also maintains blood pressure. The blood vessels in general distribute blood though the body. The arteries carry blood from heart to the capillaries. The capillaries allows diffusion between blood and interstitial fluids. While the veins return blood from the capillaries to the heart. The blood moves oxygen, carbon dioxide, and blood cells. The blood also delivers nutrients and hormones and removes waste products. The blood is also important in protecting the body in assisting in regulating the body temperature and it helps the body defends against disease.

How The Circulatory System Workes

The heart has four chambers and the heart is a muscular organ. There are two loops in the circulatory system. Pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation are the two loops. Pulmonary is what transports deoxygenated blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs at the lungs the blood gets oxygenated then goes to the left side of the heart. Systematic circulation is when the oxygenated blood from the left side of the heart is transported throughout the body this loop is also the one that removes waste from body tissues.

Diseases and disorders of the Circulatory System

Endocarditis-this is an inflammation of the inner layer of the heart and this might be infective. The treatments for this is antibiotics or a heart valve replacement.

Acute Coronary Syndrome-This is unstable angina. treatments for this include aspirin and nitroglycerin.

Pulmonary Valve Stenosis- this is when the pulmonary value cannot completely open which decreases blood flow to the lungs. Treatment for that is a valve replacements.

Thrombophlebitis- this is when blood clots develop in the vein in the extremities. The treatments for this is anticoagulants and other medications for dissolve clots.

Cardiomyopathy- This is when heart chambers enlarge and weaken. The only treatment for this if it gets that bad is a heart transplant.
