ROTARY CLUB OF HENDERSON
2018-2019 Scholarship Application
Rotary Club of Henderson will give out $5,000 in five, $1,000 scholarships in April of 2018. The scholarships are based both on current academic success and need.
Applicants should be graduating high school seniors or college students who live or attend school in Henderson, Kentucky, who have a record of successful high school work and/or college work and who will be applying to any accredited two-year community/technical college or four-year university. Students must demonstrate a need for additional funding to complete their programs of study.
To apply, complete the application, hosted on the Henderson Rotary website -http://hendersonkyrotary.org/ - which covers fall and spring term 2018-2019. Include a cover letter describing the applicant’s goals to accomplish in college, progress in high school or college, and financial need for this scholarship (i.e. costs to attend the preferred institution, other scholarships received, etc.). Attach a resume and a transcript of high school or college classes. Mail the application packet to the Henderson Rotary Club of Henderson c/o Charitable Trust, P.O. Box 77, Henderson, KY 42419-0077 by the deadline of March 2, 2018 or email in PDF format to hendokyrotary@gmail.com.
Engineering Summer Academy at Penn
· Unique program for selected high school students (rising 10th-12th graders) to experience rigorous and challenging college-level coursework.
· Areas offered: Biotechnology, Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Complex Networks, Nanotechnology, Robotics
· Program dates: July 8-July 28

FCCLA will be having our New Year Pot Luck Wednesday Jan. 10th. Bring a dish and come to G302 3:30 pm! We will be playing Bunco along with Prizes. Make plans to attend!
The Leo Club will be having a meeting tomorrow at 7:30 and again at 3:30 in G202. Leo Club members, please plan to attend one of the meeting times.
All teacher’s aides must complete the new semester teacher aide contract by the end of the day Friday and turn it in to Student Services. Anyone who needs help finding a teacher to work with should see Mrs. Williams in Student Services for help.
FBLA meeting Tuesday after school in the cafeteria mandatory for anyone interested in competing at Regionals. Come get more information if you are interested.
Anyone interested in being on Prom Committee: first meeting is Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 7:15, G206.
There will be a parent meeting for any student interested in the boys or girls tennis teams. The meeting will be held Tuesday at 5:30 in the media center.
Weight lifting for the 2018 football season will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. There will be 2 sessions held each day: Before school at 6 a.m. and immediately after school until 5:00pm at the football stadium.
Students also be aware and extremely careful when crossing Garden Mile to get to Kmart. There have been some near accident and we do not want anyone to be involved in an accident.
The main lobby doors will be closed to all entrance and exits due to construction taking place. All students that enter or exit the building through the main lobby doors will have to use the Blue Unit Foyer doors to enter and exit. This will run thru Jan. 5th.
If you are entering, grade 11 next year and have an interest in applying to the Henderson County Early College Academy, make sure to register for the February ACT. The deadline to register is January 12. www.act.org if you need assistance or more information, please contact your unit guidance counselor.
Congrats to both the girls and boys varsity bowling teams on defeating Owensboro Catholic last night 5-2 and 7-0 last night respectively. The JV team was also victorious. Nick Owens Rolled 211 and 209 while Neal Parker rolled 201 and 206. Maggie Johnson pitched in on the girls side with two 168 games. Next match in Monday at Castle High School.

Benchwarmers cruised past Bluebloods 48-18.
Paper Route Empire defeated Almost Good 78-55.
NLMB won a thriller in OT 73-70 over Scrub Squad.
Dunder Mifflin defeated TBD 76-56.
Stratton Oakmont won over Budget Ballers, 67-56.
Any student interested in free online ACT training there will be a free online session this Sat. Jan 6th at 1 PM ET on the web page onlinepreplive.com. This session will cover most of the sections of the ACT.
