Palmer Updates

From the Desk of the Principal

Letter from Mrs. Clay

Greetings, Palmer Staff

Praying this finds you well. I can't believe that today is June 30th. If it weren't from the blistering heat, I would not know it is summer. Clair and I have been working away preparing for the next school year.

Most of my time has been spent filling the vacancies. Sending a shout out to Cheryl, Nikia, Emily, Toni, and Kristi for assisting me with a few of the interviews. It has been an arduous process, but well worth it to find just the right staff members. I have one more vacancy to fill. I will be sharing the names and positions of all new staff members in my July newsletter.

I am excited to announce that we have been selected to be a pilot campus for instructional coaching model. We will have an ELA and a Math Instructional Coach for the 2016-2017 school year. 99.5% of their time will be dedicated to providing instructional support to teachers. I am very excited that Palmer was selected to be a pilot campus and I am looking forward to positive outcomes of this program.

As you know, Tracie lost her father a few weeks ago. I have been in contact with her through text messages. She's been very busy taking care of her stepmom and their property. She hopes to return to Houston soon. If you have not had a chance, please be sure to reach out to her.

I want to remind you that the district will be closed the week of July 4th. That means that Clair and I will be off. The building will be closed. In addition, we will not be able to send or receive emails. If you need to reach me, please feel free to email me at my personal email address at knpreston@yahoo.com. We will return Monday, July 11th.

Have a Happy Fourth and stay safe.

Kellie
