Parting Thoughts to Students
Academic - Be a lifelong learner...with an attitude of being teachable/never think yourself above or better than anyone else. Realize that you have new things to learn everyday and strive for EXCELLENCE.
Career - Know yourself...your strengths and talents. Find out what you love to do, so that you can do what you love. Always give more than you take.
Personal/Social/Emotional - Always choose RESPECT and kindness. Love your family...they are yours for life. Be a friend to have friends and choose YOUR friends wisely. Always seek the GOOD in others and hopefully you will not be disappointed.
Keep your balance with good character and the 7 Habits! I love you all...
Mrs. Vallas, HPC Counselor 2012-2017
About Me
I am in my 5th year as counselor at HPCS. I feel fortunate and blessed to do something I enjoy and find so rewarding. Teaching our students the 7 Habits of Happy Kids/Leader in Me mindset for the past 2 years has helped me grow as a professional and as a person. The students at HPCS challenge and inspire me every day! My commitment is to help each child be the best he/she can be!
I wear many "hats" throughout each day and school year to include: counselor, classroom guidance teacher, SAT/504 Chair, Building Test Coordinator, and Red Ribbon Week Coordinator to name a few. I have attempted to give a brief explanation of each of these duties below. I am thankful for the opportunity and privilege to work in such an amazing place with wonderful students, faculty/staff, and stakeholders.

RED RIBBON WEEK, October 23-31
Red Ribbon Week is celebrated nationwide each year during the last full week in October. HPCS participates throughout that school week with various daily activities, such as implementing a career day, a special school assembly/presentation, friendly school wide competitions, etc. The 2016-17 theme was...YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE! Your school counselor is the Red Ribbon Week coordinator for these events. If you would like to donate ribbons, pencils, or other items for our students (260) during Red Ribbon Week, please contact me.
