Swansboro High School
Weekly Updates - January 10, 2021
Happy Sunday Pirates,
What a great first week back! We enjoyed seeing the students return from winter break and quickly adjust to new classes. We wrapped up the volleyball season on Tuesday and kicked off the basketball season on Thursday night. Congrats to our JV and Varsity men for winning both games at Croatan. Several athletes qualified for regionals in cross country as well. It is exciting to see extracurricular activities coming back in Swansboro, even with restrictions.
Report cards go home on Monday and Thursday. Special thanks to our Foreign Language club for sponsoring crepes for all students who made the honor roll and principal list. They will be rewarded with this amazing treat on January 19 or 22, 2021 during refresh.
Athletics this week include JV Boy's basketball on Monday at Northside, swim at Washington and Varsity basketball at Northside on Wednesday, JV basketball at home on Thursday and Varsity at home on Friday against West Carteret. Our swim team will also travel to Winterville on Friday night. Good luck to our cross county runners who will compete in Regionals at Boyd Lee Park on Saturday. Lacrosse tryouts also start this week and we will host a tennis interest meeting on Wednesday.
The ASVAB will be offered on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. This is free for all students who are interested. See Mrs. Matthews in the front office to sign up.

Lacrosse Tryouts
Tryouts will begin on Monday and run from 3-5 pm. Practices are closed and will be everyday. COVID screenings will begin around 2:45 pm, and athletes should be dressed and ready to go for 3 pm. Face masks are required, as are mouth guards and all other lacrosse equipment. With lacrosse starting in Jan, dress appropriately for the weather. We do have some night games, and it will get cold.
The schedule is current and can be found on MaxPreps. Havelock is not fielding a team and Northside hopes to, so this year they combined conferences 2 and 3. The schedule reflects those changes I just received this morning.
Any questions on eligibility or anything else, please email Coach Geddes at derek.geddes@onslow.k12.nc.us
