This week
Phew! What a busy 'from Summer to Winter' in 24 hours kind of week!
It has been a really enjoyable week at school. The children have been absolutely marvellous. They have had their heads down and done some brilliant work and they haven't even batted an eyelid when all the staff began wearing visors around school this week.
There have been many superstar awards given out for helping others and showing compassion. We are very proud of this fact.
This week the Parish Council erected a plaque on the Infant building between the two doors. It is to commemorate past pupils of the school who sacrificed their own lives to serve and protect our country in war. There's that compassion again - it is in our past and our present and will certainly continue in the future. Enjoy the picture of the plaque being erected below.
Superstar Awards
Phoebe Smith, Harriet Bainbridge, Albert Whisker-Taylor, Nancy Mattinson, Martha Mae Barker, Bethany Horsman, Oscar Dyson, Ella-Rose Howard, Ellie-May Lodge, Keeley Sharpe, Charlie Birch, Aiden Firth, Lucy Thompson.

A message from Rev Pete
Hello all
Obviously, and sadly, we are not able to have the usual school harvest celebrations this year. ☹
However, we will still be celebrating harvest during the week of 12th October at the following church services:
Thursday 15th October 10am St Francis, Thorpe Willoughby
Sunday 18th October 9.30am St Wilfrid, Brayton
As well as our YouTube livestreamed service on the 18th.
However:
- 1.This year Selby Churches Together has encouraged local churches to support the vital work of the Selby Foodbank, so donations of non-perishable food items will be collected for the Foodbank. These can be brought to either of the services on 15th or 18th October. Please note again, these must be non-perishable items in fully sealed packaging or in tins- nothing fresh and/or unsealed can be accepted.
John Bennett of Selby Foodbank says this:
There are certain items which we have an abundance of and others which we are short of, for example, we have enough pasta, baked beans and soup to last probably until mid 2021! Fortunately most of this is long dated, but it takes up space. We do share resources with other Foodbanks, but everyone has enough of these 3 items
We only have limited stocks of :
Tinned cold meat, Coffee, Custard, Rice pudding, Tinned tomatoes, Instant mash, Tinned potatoes
If we can target these items that will be very much appreciated.
- The week of 12th Oct Pete in Touch Reboot will be on a harvest theme to be used in Collective Worships/Assemblies, if you’d like. Angus McShoogle and I will talk about Selby Foodbank!
- Linked to this, please do check out this really good, short SU harvest video below for use in schools. I would really recommend it, not least, as it is also encouraging giving to local food banks.
