Vote for Alexander Elementary School in the Lenovo Future Academy Traveling Storybook Contest!
If the school receives the most votes, the campus can win a complete technology upgrade worth $25,000. Voting ends March 19 at 10:59 p.m.
Regional Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) Results
Alief ISD students recently competed in the Regional Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) Competition. Alief ISD had a total of 470 students receive regional medals for their artwork.
Out of the 470 regional medals, 22 students are advancing to state-level competitions in April. Congratulations to the high school students advancing to state:
- Elsik - Bob Mejia, Chidozie Onyenobi, Dayeli Ramos, Jailene Cabrera, Jannat Merchant, Kevin Lara, Leslie Puello, Rahil Padaniya, Rebecca Tharl, Sophia Rice and Thu Nguyen
- Hastings - Kailynn Valera, Kimberly Garcia, Kimberly Ngo, Tania Pena and Yaritza Estrada
- Kerr - Cindy Fiscal, Kaylee Vu, Lan To and Patrick Dang
- Taylor - Haley Santana and Melissa Osorio
Elsik High School student Elizabeth Ogolo was surprised by KPRC 2 and Texas Mattress Makers with a senior scholarship.
A $2,500 senior scholarship was awarded to Ogolo, who was one of 20 deserving Houston area scholarship recipients. KPRC 2′s Owen Conflenti surprised the senior during her class.

- Best of Show - Ana Caroline Guerrra (Bush Elementary School), Liliet Silva (Albright Middle School), Raphael Luu (Kerr High School), Rosie Nguyen (Kerr High School) and Erick Navarrete (Taylor High School)
- Gold Medal - Karen Cruz (Alexander Elementary School), Giselle Padilla (Alief Middle School), Jennifer Argueta (Elsik High School), Sophia Rice (Elsik High School), Blossom Omeje (Hastings High School) and Kaylee Vu (Kerr High School)
- Special Merit - Thai Nguyen (Elsik High School), Sianya Vargas (Elsik High School), Emily Duong (Elsik High School), Claudia Orozco (Hastings High School), Jackelin Gutierrez (Hastings High School), Patrick Dang (Kerr High School) and Eder Sanchez (Taylor High School)
Athletic News
- Hastings High School student Laython Shaw was selected to play in the 2020 Bayou Bowl Game on June 13 at the Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union Stadium.
- The Elsik High School Boys Basketball Team was the 2019-2020 District 23-6A Champions. The team advanced to bi-district playoffs.
- The Hastings High School Boys Basketball Team advanced to bi-district playoffs.

- The Safety and Climate Surveys are live for district students and parents as well as campus-based employees. Parents can take the survey by visiting www.aliefisd.net/survey. Campus staff members received a survey link via email, and students will be taking the survey at the school.
- The 2020-2021 applications are online for the high schools of choice, Dual Language Program and Mandarin Immersion Program. The high schools of choice priority acceptance application deadline is February 28 at 5:00 p.m. Space is limited.
