Upcoming High School Professional Development/Workshops
I am planning on two cohorts for each subject area. Each cohort will have 20 teachers or less so that we can work together more effectively and really make some progress towards how to meet NGSS through inquiry based student centered learning.
We will work together in coming up with multiple ways to approach instruction in the topics covered in your respective subject areas.
- Biological Sciences Cohort 1: October 15th at Ligon Outdoor Center
- Physics Cohort 1: October 29th at Ligon Outdoor Center

- Chemistry Cohort 2: November 5th at Ligon Outdoor Center
Each workshop will run from 8 am to 3 pm
Each cohort should be able to meet at least once during second semester.

Middle School and Elementary School Professional Development/Workshops
Coming from a high school setting, I would welcome any input from both Middle School and Elementary teachers as to their needs in the classroom.
Feel free to call me at 591-4470 or email me at mpillay@geneseeisd.org. Dialogue in this regard would be invaluable in planning pd that best meets what you need for your students.
Teacher Open House Dates at Ligon Outdoor Center
October 9th, 5 pm to 7 pm
October 15th, 5 pm to 7 pm
Jason Bentley, Ligon Ranger, will be taking you on a tour of the facilities. If you are late, no problem. They are giving me a walkie talkie so hopefully, I can get you to the tour group or you can look around on your own.
Your families are also welcome. If you have not been there before, you will be surprised.
There are several Elementary programs at Ligon. Middle School and High School activities are currently being designed.
They will range from more basic to activities appropriate for your advanced placement or honors classes. Look for those next school year. This year is set aside for planning and testing.
Keep in mind, Ligon is free to use for teachers in Genesee County.

Become a Michigan Green School
Schools that achieve one of these levels are recognized by the Governor.
Please take a few minutes to review their website. This is a great way to promote students becoming aware of issues around them and promotes responsibility and awareness of non-renewable resources.
