The Power of Prayer (week 1) - Wednesday Night

Last week we finished our series on Choices. This week we will begin a new series on prayer. Over the next four weeks, we will be looking at the power of prayer, learning to pray, unanswered prayers, and recognizing God's voice. This week is focused on the power of prayer. We will be looking at James the brother of Jesus and his understanding that the power of prayer lies not in the words we say but in who we are praying to. The passage for this week is James 5:14-16 for those who would like to read ahead. See you all there!!!!!

The Commandments (Part 1) - Sunday Night

Last time we looked at how idolatry within Israel lead to a distortion of true worship and how it brought about God's righteous condemnation. This week we will look at God telling His people of His love for them and how this love leads to Him giving them the Law. The Law was meant to show each of them God's desire for their lives and how they must rely on Him alone to fulfill it. The passage for this week is Exodus 19:1-6; 20:1-11 for those who would like to read ahead. See you all there!!!!!

Trusting God with your Kids

I read an article this week on trusting the sovereignty of God especially with the lives of our kids. Russell Moore suggests that some of the anxiety we face in life, especially in regards to our kids, comes from a direct lack of trust in God's ability to control things that are out of our control.

I know in my own life that when I am most anxious, the one thing I am lacking the most is trust for God to not only handle the situation but to have the ability and desire to do so. As children of God, God has a vested interest in our lives. He desires for our lives to reflect His glory. To be certain, this does not mean that our lives will be worry free or all of our problems to be solved instantaneously. what it does mean is that God sees our needs and he knows what we need better than we do. When problems arise, when worrisome situations begin to crack the surface of your home, trust in the One is is able and willing to see you through even the darkest days. God Bless!!!!!
