Meet Our Team!

The human resources department has welcomed many changes this summer! The department has realigned responsibilities, moved to the portable behind the administration building, and welcomed several new members. Stop by and see us!

Benefits: Open Enrollment

WISD is in the middle of open enrollment for benefits! You can log in to your benefits account to sign up or make changes. We will have benefits consultants on hand at the administration builiding July 29-August 2, from 8:00-4:00, to help you sign up. We will also have consultants on hand August 12-13 from 9:00-6:00, with bilingual support. No need for an appointment, just stop by!

TTESS Training

Here are a few reminders about TTESS training requirements for our new and returning teachers…

Returning Teachers:


  • Teaching staff who are evaluated with TTESS are required to have a refresher prior to being evaluated.
  • This training refresher is presented by the campus administrative staff and must take place by September 4 for returning teachers.


Waiver Requirements for returning teachers:

  • Must be on a term contract
  • Must be SBEC certified
  • Must be employed by the district for at least 3 years
  • Have been in current teaching assignment for at least 1 year
  • Received ratings of at least “proficient” in all domains on the previous year T-TESS summative evaluation.
  • A teacher who had a waiver last year must be evaluated this year.

New Teachers:


  • All new teachers will be asked to supply a TTESS certificate if they have been trained in another district. Please send a scanned copy of the certificate to tburkhalter@wisd.org
  • Those who have been trained in a previous district will be able to attend the refresher on campus.
  • Theresa Burkhalter will be in contact with first-year teachers about TTESS Orientation.
  • This will be administered through the TTESS Cube online module.

New Hire Sessions

Throughout the summer, the HR department has teamed up with payroll to present twice-weekly new hire sessions. New hires have heard about:

  • Payroll procedures
  • Security protocols
  • Child Abuse Training
  • New Hire paperwork
  • Badges

We will hold substitute trainings for new & returning subs, and student teachers throughout the month of August. See below for dates & times...


Subs will learn about:

  • District policies & procedures
  • Child abuse prevention & suicide awareness
  • Safety & Security Training
  • Medical Issues in the classroom
  • Substitute Handbook
