NEWS FROM MRS. HILCHER- PRINCIPAL OF TIMBERLINE ELEMENTARY
Week of March 1st - March 5th
** Reimbursement for Returning 5th graders Who Paid for the Texas Field Trip in 19-20.
We are saddened that we couldn’t take our students to San Antonio and Austin last March 2020 due to COVID. The pandemic has also impacted our ability to go on this field trip again this school year. As much as we are disappointed that our students can’t experience this trip, we are dedicated to keeping them healthy and safe. Unfortunately the company this special trip was planned and paid with has made reimbursements more than challenging. I am thrilled to share that our Admin Assistant, Mrs. Gloria Reyes, has been working diligently alongside the GCISD Finance department to process the reimbursements anyways. The checks are being processed and will be mailed to the address you have on file in Skyward directly from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. If you have any questions about this process, please reach out to our front office at 817-251-5770. Thank you for your understanding and patience with this process. -Mrs. Hilcher

Read Across America Week
This week is Read Across America week, where we celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and encourage reading and student literacy! At Timberline we will be celebrating in several ways. We have dress up days, each day with a theme related to a different Dr. Seuss book.
There is also a Bingo board! Bingo sheets will be passed out by the students' teacher OR they can complete it on Seesaw. For each slot the student should read for 15 minutes in a way that completes the reading challenge. Once students get five in a row, they can turn the board in to their teacher to be entered into a drawing to win their very own book. Bingo sheets must be turned in by NEXT THURSDAY March 11. Have fun! Happy reading!
Book/Art-Supplies Pick-Up
Book and art supplies pick up will continue this week for distance learners. Sign up for a time here.
Leader in Me - Tiger Talk
Leaders persevere and don’t give up! This week we are talking about what kinds of things we usually give up on and what kinds of activities we see through to the end.
Take a minute with your leader to talk about what they give up on very quickly and make a plan for how to get help instead.
From GCISD
Curbside Meals Service
During the 2020-2021 school year, and with the aid of a nationwide USDA waiver, children 18-years-old and under are able to receive free weekly meal bundles. GCISD will offer curbside (drive-thru) service at Cross Timbers Middle, Grapevine Elementary and Grapevine Middle on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Things to Remember
- This service is available to all children 18-years-old and under
- Students do not have to be enrolled at the specific site where meal bundle is picked up
- Proof of enrollment is no longer required and students do not need to be present in the vehicle
- Parents will drive to the curb and, without getting out of the vehicle, tell staff how many students they need to receive bundles for
- If you have questions, please contact Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Nutrition Services by emailing child.nutrition@gcisd.net or by calling 817-251-5615.
About the Meals
Students will be given bags that will include 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 1 gallon of White or Chocolate Milk. There will be a mix of items to refrigerate, to freeze and that are shelf stable. Information sheets will be provided with storage and preparation instructions. Parents must read all information and follow storing, cooking and discarding recommendations
Intent to Enroll Form
Do you plan to attend GCISD schools next year but are not currently enrolled? Let us know you are coming! As GCISD prepares for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year, it is vital that the District have accurate enrollment predictions in order to properly staff for the number of students that will be attending school.
If you have children who are not enrolled in GCISD for 2020-2021, but will be enrolling for 2021-2022, we ask that you complete this Intent to Enroll form prior to March 12.
You DO need to complete the form if your child(ren)...
- Did not attend GCISD in 2020-2021 (for any reason), but will attend in 2021-2022
- Is entering Pre-K in GCISD in August 2021
- Is entering Kindergarten in GCISD in August 2021 AND did NOT attend Pre-K in GCISD
Please DO NOT complete the form if your child(ren)...
- Attended GCISD for the 2020-2021 school year, including Pre-K students
This form in no way obligates families to attend school in GCISD in 2021-2022, and it is also not a formal registration. Information regarding registration will be shared in the coming months.
If you know a family that may need to complete the form, please share this information with them. Thank you for your assistance in preparing for the 2021-2022 school year.

Tips for Improving your Webex and Online learning Experience
Webex can use a lot of internet resources, so that means we need to look at what all is running on our home internet or hotspot while Webex is being accessed.
While attending a Webex class:
Do not stream music with any device that is attached to your home wifi ( Alexa, google home, streaming radios, other laptops, etc.)
Turn of any video game systems that might be connected online (even if games paused)
Turn of any video streaming services that are running on your tv or other devices connected to your home network.
Also, try restarting your computer each day to help clear out any other process that might be running in the background.
Following these tips should help improve your overall online class experience.
