2022 BEEZ Kick-off Assembly
Our Zephyr BEEZ had a blast kicking off the new year and celebrating what it means when we call ourselves Zephyr BEEZ. On Friday, our Beez had a chance to compete, dance, and demonstrate how to Be safe, Encourage others, Excel in all they do, and have Zephyr Pride. As a staff, we couldn't be more proud everyone's enthusiasm, hard work, and positivity at the start of this year. Let's keep it going, one week at a time, one day at a time!
EXTRACURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
Keeping your child busy, focused on a routine, and having an interest in constant improvement is fundamental to future academic success. There is so much to be gained through extracurricular activities that positively impacts the academic performance and overall well-being of a child. As we have opportunities available, please consider signing your child up. It will make a difference!
Zephyr Chorus
Zephyr Band
Mr. Miller is looking to build our Zephyr Band. Registration for the Zephyr Band is now available. If your child does not have any musical experience, or isn't sure which instrument fits best, visit Mr. Miller's Zephyr Band site, or watch the linked video for some additional guidance. No experience is necessary. You'll be amazed at how much growth you'll see in your child's first year of band!
Fall Benchmarking (Reading and Math)
During the next two weeks we will be running Reading and Math assessments in order to gather information on student readiness levels. The assessments take approximately 35 minutes and will provide us with valuable information that will be used to optimize instruction moving forward. The assessments do require the use of headphones. If you're able to send your child to school with their own set of plug-in headphones, we would appreciate it. We will provide headphones for students who need them.

Chromebook Insurance (Last Chance to Purchase)
The window to purchase Chromebook insurance is open now through 9/16/22 and will cover accidental damages through 6/30/23. Chromebooks will play an integral role in your child's education this year and will be used periodically throughout each day. Knowing that accidents happen, we encourage you to purchase the $15 Chromebook Protection Fee. The fee may be paid online using MySchoolBucks.com or by making a cash payment in the Main Office. Families who opt-out of the fee will be responsible for repair or replacement costs for any damage incurred. If the technology fee is paid the first accident requiring a repair will be covered. The second accident during the same year will result in a charge of the cost of the repair to a maximum of $50. The third accident requiring repair will result in the entire cost of the repair to be charged to the student. If the technology fee is not paid, the non-warranty repair cost will be assumed by the student. For any damage determined to be misuse, neglect, intentional damage, or lost/stolen device, the cost is the actual cost of repair or replacement of the device, currently $300. If a power adapter, case, or other accessories are damaged or lost, the parent/student is responsible for the full cost of replacement, currently $40-$60 (depending on the model) for the adapter and $10 for the carry case.

The Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative Food Pantry holds food distributions every month on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays. An appointment is required. Call 484-225-0358 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Households with children will receive supplemental food.
