Out of My Mind
By: Sharon Draper
Melody Brooks
Melody is a girl, she can not talk. Or walk. Or move her arms. All she can do is think. Melody has been forced not to talk for her whole life. She has so many things to say but she can't say them. Finally Melody finds a way to talk but is the world ready to hear her strong voice?
"This book is rich in detail of both the essential normalcy and the difficulties of a young person with cerebral palsy."-Kirkus Review
"Melody is not like most people. She cannot walk or talk, but she has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced."-Denver Post
"Those who read Sharon Drapers most recent novel probably will never again look a child using a wheelchair the same way"-The Columbus Dispatch
Even if you don't like realistic fiction I recommend this book.
