Research
Genius Hour
8th graders have been challenged to find a topic within the Holocaust to research and become a Genius on that topic. This is part of their ELAR Holocaust unit. Ms. Sanchez provided them with a sample and guide to research. Ms. Sanchez chose to research book burnings that occurred during the Holocaust era and helped develop a research plan for students with the 8th grade ELAR teachers.
Nearpod Virtual Field Trips
8th Grade went on 3 virtual field trips with our librarian to visit Holocaust concentration camps and Holocaust memorials around the world before they started reading Night or Diary of Anne Frank
Choir Research helped the Girls Choir win straight ones at UIL!
The 7th and 8th grade Girls choir spent some time listening to interviews of Holocaust survivors and using library resources to research more about the tragedies of the Holocaust. Researching helped them bring more emotion and power into their performance. Congrats ladies!
Our library is the best place for research!
Not only to we have books on many topics covered in various core classes, we can also help you pinpoint which online digital resources are best to use for your project.
Digital Resources in Launchpad
For example, Ms. Sanchez taught students how to use the Gale Biography app that is accessible in Launchpad. There are over 40 digital resource apps that NEISD library services has purchased to support student learning.
6th graders Researching Famous People
6th grade ELAR students are researching famous people around the world using the online library resource: Gale Biography in Context
We provided FREE 3D printing in honor of Valentine's Day
February 11-15th
Earlier this month we gave students the opportunity to print one one-hour print for free. So many students learned about the process of 3D printing!
Students loved this opportunity!
Many students created their own designs and printed objects for their friends or family. One student printed a family name plate and painted it to put in her home. Another student printed a model of heart.About 100 students participated in this event!
You can still 3D print!
You can always 3D print in the library. Click here to learn how.
