Friendly Earth Day Competition
Next Saturday, April 22 is Earth Day. In the spirit of taking care of our world and engaging in healthy competition, our Student Council will be running a fundraiser in tandem with the Indian Woods Student Council. Both schools will be raising donations - Indian Hills for #teamseas and Indian Woods for #teamtrees - as a competition to see which school can raise the most money. The losing school has agreed to plant a tree on the opposing school’s campus. Let’s make sure that Woods is planting a tree for us!
Indian Hills will be donating money to https://teamseas.org/. This is a global campaign to remove plastic and trash from our oceans, rivers, and beaches. To donate and help IHMS win the Earth Day competition, a stand-alone email will be sent early next week with online donation specifics. Stay tuned!

IHMS School Store - One Month Left!
Did you know you can't take your Shillings with you? That's right! Once the school year ends, all Shillings are wiped clean. So...spend them!!!
The last day to place an order from the school store is May 10. There are a couple new events posted in PBIS Rewards and lunch on the patio will be added to raffles soon!

Macbook Collection
All students will be turning in their devices and chargers to Indian Hills on May 18th and 19th. Those students enrolled in summer school online classes will receive a Macbook at the beginning of those classes.

Important Notes From Our Nurse
Attention 8th Grade Parents:
Hepatitis A (Hep A):
- Two doses are required for all students entering 9th grade.
- Doses must be at least 6 months apart.
Not sure if you have turned in your child’s vaccination records to the nurse? You can check Skyward:
Directions for accessing student health information:
- In Skyward Family Access, on the left-hand side, scroll down to “health info” and click on the link.
- Across the top, you will see a blue underlined link that says “display options.”
- Show Vaccinations – this will display your child’s immunizations on file with the school.
- If you don’t see a dose listed, your nurse does not have the record. Please provide that to the school nurse.
Please contact the nurse with any questions
Drinks
Just a reminder - it is an expectation that students do NOT drink caffeinated drinks such as coffee and other energy drinks while at Indian Hills. Energy drinks especially are hard on developing middle school minds and bodies. If we see them, they will be dumped.
Please help your student get a good night sleep, a balanced breakfast, and lots of water! Water is the only drink to be consumed while at school.
Speaking of - have your student check the lost and found if they are missing their water bottle 🙂
Bags
Backpacks and bags are not allowed in hallways or classrooms. Pencil size and small Lulu bags are permitted (yes, you know the size I’m talking about). Large lulu bags are not permitted and are expected to remain in lockers. Thank you for reminding your students to keep bags at home or in their locker.
Injuries
If your student has had an injury that will interfere with their daily schedule, please notify the Nurse’s Office. Get documentation at each appointment as it is required by the Shawnee Mission School District. It is much easier to ask for documentation from your doctor while you are at an appointment than hunt someone down later. Thank you 🙂
