LTHS PATH Update
LT9 News and Notes Num. 11
The Quarter Panic
Many of your students will have low grades at the start of the quarters. Especially, the 2nd and the 4th. Breathe, this is normal.
When it's not the start of a semester, your students will be coming from a long weekend break, but the assignments barge forward.
They might have a late assignment or fail a quiz. Since it's the 1st grade of the quarter, Skyward will reflect a failing grade with nothing to balance it out.
Warning! Be Ready. Your students will be extremely frustrated and defensive.
Be patient and encourage them to communicate with their teachers, attend tutorials, to raise their grades by the next assignment.

The Dreaded Group Projects
These are student nightmares. We want to give them the control back into what they can do to make them a success.
What if I don't know the other kids?
What if the other students don't do their share of the work?
What if someone's taking too much control of the group and I disagree?

Advanced Productivity Goals
Best question from a student: "Isn't a planner just one giant To Do List?"
"YAAAS!!!......."-Path Teacher then does an embarrassing interpretive dance.
Next, we'll cover chunking projects and planning study time.
We're Learning Stuff to Use In the Real World?
Beyond the Path Class
We're now taking the organization and productivity skills beyond the Path classroom walls.
During our Backpack Housekeeping, we heard a lot of:
"Now my A Day backpack looks great but my B Day bag at home is still a mess."
"Then, what do we need to do?"
"I know, I know, do it in the Real World."
Theater Showcase
Theater gave us a wonderful comedic preview of their latest show Be Chill about the perils of high school in our Black Box Theater. Music, lights, sound, singing, dancing, and lot of laughs.
LTHS has 2 options for courses:
Theater and Theater Technology
We learned about ways to improve our resumés with the opportunities provided by the program: Acting
Public Speaking
Marketing
Team Collaboration
Lighting and Sound Design
Engineering
Carpentry and more!
LTHS does around 9 shows a year, providing more opportunities for actors and techies than the average high school. Thank you Ms. Guckian, Mr. Bartosh, Mr. Stahlecker, and Ms. Stokes our Theater teachers for your hard work!
